Edgeworth, Francis

William Vickrey
Living from 1845 to 1926, Edgeworth's contributions to Economics continue to influence modern game theorists. His Mathematical Psychics published in 1881, demonstrated the notion of competitive equilibrium in barter economies. He noted that the resulting game permitted many solutions (a concept later resurrected as the notion of the core) but the number of solutions is reduced as the size of the economy grows.
